    bright purple metallic....(possible color change)

me and the ol lady were talkin and she mentioned she would like the t/a more if it were purple....so i showed her some pics of bpm trans am on google and she fell in love with it....Now there are talks of ordering a ram air hood and changing the color from pewter to purple, and since my dad does paint and body i think we can pull this off for cheap....anyone know the color code for this color? And not that it matters, but Are these cars worth more in the factory color?

    Navy Blue Metallic
    98 T/A w/ mods, 00 FBVert

they are just more rare, you're rpo code & vin will always reflect pewter so no gains for color change in regards to value.

I say go for it, if anything it will be an eye catcher...

Is that where the name "Royal Purple" came from?

My neighbor across the street has a purple Camaro. I'm not a fan. Looks too girly for my taste.

It might look better on a Trans Am, and I agree. Just doesn't look right on a Camaro.

it looks killer on the t/a, and another perk of this color change is that she will want to drive the t/a more, and i will have more leverage to get my old school muscle car.....

88U is the RPO code for Bright Purple Metallic. This factory color was available only in '97 and '98. The "story" is that ASC had issues painting the WS6 hoods this color, so very few were built. NBM replaced it for 99+ (NBM became available late in the '98 MY run).

I remember seeing a pic of a purple firehawk i think it was and it looked badass. I'm with Jon, that color doesn't work on a camaro though.
