    bent axle hub

    this is what happens when someone runs you off the road into a curb, bending your wheel and axle hub, and you drive on it for a year or so. with the brakes dragging constantly

    caliper exploded. shot my brake pads 20ft in the air. shims and clips destroyed. piston wedged in between the rotor and caliper. woo.
    fixed now!

    but i have a question: HELP!
    will the axles (ONLY THE AXLES THEMSELVES not the entire rear end, housing, blah blah) from an LT1 body style V6 firebird fit into the rear end of an 02 Trans Am? I need to replace my right side axle and a guy at my school has a parts car that i can get the axle from for cheap.

    I've heard the LT1 axle shafts are a little longer than the LS1 axle shafts. The axle will fit in the housing fine but the brake rotor won't line up correctly with the caliper. The solution is to:
    1) Get the proper LS1 axle shaft
    2) shim the brake caliper and parking brake backing plate out to match up with the rotor
    3) Convert to LT1 style brakes.
