BBK 2.5" headers with ORY - flanges body smacking

I have installed BBK 2.5" headers and ORY with an SLP LM2 exhaust. Outside of being obnoxiously loud, the flange where the header an ORY bolt together are smacking the body when accelerating hard from 1st -2nd. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help with the clearance?

My thought is to have it welded removing the flange, no more smacking...

    Or

    Possibly new motor mounts....

    Yes.
    bunch of them

Do the flanges not free-float on the header- In other words, allowing them to rotate?

There is an exhaust bracket that is made to alleviate this problem. A pic was posted in an older thread and I'll have to look for it to give you the details.

Olds project is stalled out right now. Too many other projects popping up and I spent a couple of weeks working on the K-member install and such on the Trans Am. I am heading to Carlisle on Thursday so that will get me revved up again to get working on it.

I did not install the brace on my car -- after spending some more time adjusting on it I was able to get everything to fit with no clunking issues.

My BBK's hit the RT side floor pan(with engine off)sent the 1st set of headers back & had to adjust floor pan with some tapping from a hammer with the 2nd set..WTF....I wish I would have saved more $$$$ for Kooks!!!!!
