    Automatic Transmission Question

I'm a fairly new member so please excuse me if this question has been previously discussed and stored somewhere on this site.
My 2002 WS6 is an automatic. Everything is fine and it shifts as it should ( I think )
What I dislike is it's inability to downshift into lower gearing unless you really stomp on the throttle. I get the impression that the factory guys set it up to lug into the highest gear for economy numbers.
Is there a fix for this ? I don't know if it's a software upgrade or a possible valve body that enhances the throttle response. I would ideally like a downshift at more reasonable throttle openings. I understand I can manually override but that's not what I am looking for.
Thanks for any advice or ideas you can share with me.

There are settings that can be adjusted with a tune. Frost, a site sponser, does mail order tunes. You simply mail him your PCM, he will program the tune on it and ship it back, and you reinstall it. Check out his website for the info. If you plan to do any mods anytime soon, I'd hold off until you do them. If not, his services are highly recommended. Even on a stock car, his tunes make quite a difference, as many here will attest to.

+1 on the Frost tune. Best money I've spent to get actual change in the character of the car. Their tune will change the feel of the up and downshift points and dial out some of the torque management. Be careful when you launch the first few times until you get used to the increased wheel spin from go!
