Navy Blue Metallic- '00 Formy A4
Anyone put a Formula hatch/wing on a T/A?
I'm looking for a LS1 'Bird, and what I really want is a Formy. Apparently they're as rare as hen's teeth though.
The T/A's aren't bad, I'm just not a big fan of the wing.
Anyone put a base model/Formula hatch on a T/A to get rid of the wing? I know the ragtops come with one, but I've never seen a coupe with one.

nah i've never seen that... i would say most people like the wing. If you happen to find a navy blue metallic ta i'd gladly trade you my low profile (firebird/formula) wing.

I pulled up on a red T/A awhile back thinking that it was a firebird. Now, I couldn't tell which the owner had changed. The wing or the words on the door? I would assume the wing, but there are people out there that would change the lettering to make it seem that they have more than they did.
Oh, and it was a T-top.

The "uplift spoiler" that is standard on all the LS1 T/As was optional on T/As from '93-(I believe)'95. So some of the LT1 T/As have the Formula spoiler.
I'd say hold out for an LS1 Formula. You'll find one eventually, and you'll be happier having a rare car instead of a bastardized one.

My old 95TA had the lower firebird spoiler. I think it is standard from 96' on..

I've got a formy but i'd like to have the t/a wing. Thats what sucks about painting your car before you mod it the way you want it :-P Besides the fact that i don't have the intentions on swapping over the whole hatch just to gain that little bit of cosmetics.

"bastardized" i love that word. Its rare to find someone who doesnt like the T/A wing. Most of the time its the other way around. But to each his own.

I don't hate the wing, I just think it's a little over the top. I think it looks okay on the WS6 cars, because the hood balances it out.
Reason I like the Formula so much is that it's so visually tuned down from the T/A, which adds the whole sleeper aspect to it. I used to have one, a '98, and people would ask if it was the V6.
I miss that car, I kick myself for trading it in.
Like I said htough, nothing wrong with a T/A, I'd go with one of those if I ofund a good deal on one with decent mileage. I definitely like the Smokey and the Bandit feel to a black T/A, even if it's the wrong gen.

Hold out for a Formula. Its not worth it down the road if you ever sell it.

Yeah, I'll probably do that.
Tell you the truth though, I've looked at so many T/A's online the past few days they're really growing on me. I loved them when they first came out, but somwhere along the line I lost my love for them. I still stare when I see one going down the road though.

Agreed...hold out for what you want...
Also...with a little searching you may be able to find a WS6 Formula...they didn't make very many of them but occasionally you'll run across one for sale...1999 Formula WS6 Silver T-Top, 6 speed, 3:42 gears

Red- 2000 Trans Am
I love that damn T/A spolier, one of the body pieces that made me want a T/A instead of a formula, i owned a formula first, and when this girl pulled up in a T/A the same color, i felt like a douche cause i like her car better lol.

'98 Black Gone :(- 01 WS6 Midnight Blue
it depends on what you like, my dad loves my moms formy because its a "sleeper" in his book, i on the other hand love the bad ass look of a trans am from behind with the spoiler so all in what you like.
the formula "spoiler" is a part of the hatch, so you'd have to swap out hatches.. i think that would be a pain in the ass, if u want a formula deff wait until you can find one. they are out there hell if my moms wasnt an lt1 id sell it to ya! she needs an ls1...
