99 pontiac trans am
I am going to look at a 99 ram air trans am this week. Any pros and cons on the 99. The only flaw i have seen in pictures is the drivers door panel has a crack in it.

'98s were the ones that have some differences - fuel tank, PCM, and such. Other than that they are all fairly similar and the links Scott posted have lots of good info. Good luck!

One of the few cons is the injectors are 26lb vs 28lb for all other years. Pros 98-99's IIRC (it may just be the 98's) do not suffer from "chicken pox" = it's were the paint on the sail panel bubbles up. GM change their glue for the sail panel and it bubbles up. No real easy fix for it. Only cure I know is remove the sail panel skin, remove the old adhesive and reskin & paint. Not easy or cheap.

Well i didnt get the car. I didnt expect a car with 27000 miles on it to have the whole sail panel to have chicken pox and the clear coat to be extremly foggy. They tried to show me the foggy clear coat could be buffed out but with 30 mins of work and it never got better they still stuck to their 16 k price and wouldnt budge. If they would have moved on price i may have still bought it. I was a clean car.

The sail panel issue is a common problem - you should see the one on our car. They almost ALL do that due to the adhesive GM utilized during assembly.

I knew about the sail panel issue and tried to use it against them to get the price lower. The drivers side oxidation is what had me worried. He tried for a half hour to fix it and it didnt get better at all

After buying our car, we painted the front bumper, hood and headlight doors. On a 15 year old car, not to be unexpected but you are correct that it all has to be factored in with the price they were asking. Keep on shopping...
