93 Trans am vs 98 ws6
My friend has a 93 trans am. At first I thought it was an lt1 but after going for a ride in it I think it may be an lt4. Thing is wicked snappy through the gears. Not sure if it "feels" faster or is faster than my ls1. Who would take it?

lt4s will push near ls1 numbers......so if it is truely a lt4 in that 93..it will come down to driver and gearing

Im pretty sure the only camaros to come with the lt4 options were 96 and 97 SSs and even then it was still an option the 96/97 could still have the lt1. And only the 97 firehawk had the lt4 for the firebird line up. Eitherway im pretty sure the lt4 was only an option in 96+ top of the line f-bodys.

Your LS1 should take it no problem.
My buddy used to have a 93 z28 with 3.73 gears and well maintained engine. It was always fast until I got my 98 Formula.
We raced when my car was still stock and I smoked him from a dig or rolling.

I used to have a 93 6 speed ta, intake, 4:10 gears, long tubes, full 3" exhaust, msd wires, so on and so on, the best i could get it to do in the quarter was 13.4, not bad out of a lt1, in sep i bought a 01 ws6, sub frame conecters,lowered,4:10,msd wires full 3" with cutout, and a few of the "free b" mods, first trip to the track the car went 12.8....... the numbers say it all, lt1's are fast, ls1's are faster...lol

i raced an lt1 with bolt ons, stall, 373 gears, heads, and small cam from a 20 roll, smoked him. All i have is external bolt ons and a lid. You should have no problem pulling on him.

Well the LS1 has more power and is a lighter motor being all aluminum as compared to the LT1 iron block. In any equal power and driver race a few pounds can win the race. I've driven a LT4 Vette 6spd and a LT1 Formula and they were both fast just not on par with the LS. This is a GM forum but it's like comparing a old 5.0 Mustang block to the new more powerful 5.0 motor just a much bigger design difference there but same idea. zznew tech and materials brings new power. Just like if you had a LS1 Formula with carbon fiber panels and the fance stuff the new ZR1 Vette has even with the same motor it'd be faster. My favorite mod would be taking a 6 spd auto paddle shifter outta a vette and the LS3 and drop it into my TA.

I would rather see one with a dual clutch paddle tranny. Your not gonna beat one of those, clutches like a manual but with two computer controlled clutches. 1 for 1st,3rd,5th and another for 2nd, 4th and 6th. So while your hammering on 1st the 2nd clutch is preloaded and ready to engage as soon as the first clutch disengages.
