893 vs 860 Fog Light Bulbs

    Does it matter?

The 860s (880s?) (stock) are 27 watts and the 893s are 37.5 watts. Will the 893s melt the plastic housing? I made this switch on my Caddy (plastic housing, too) and it didn't hurt anything. The current draw is another couple of amps, too - is the stock wiring okay?

    Me just paranoid?

Thanks. The 37.5 watt bulb is really the only direct-replacement "upgrade" bulb there is. I'll pop them in and see what happens.

    Great info - thanks.

I had SilverStars in my Caddy and they burned out constantly. When I complained to Sylvania they said they are only for 'inclement weather use', and that I was using them improperly.

I put 893s in it. Seems fine so far.

That's for sharing. Really puts led lighting into perspective.
