    2002 Firebirds...........how many?

I wanted to know how many Firebirds were made in 2002 so I went to www.transamworld.com and they say there were 30,690 Firebirds built.
Now heres my problem they say 23,648 are t-tops and 5,192 are convertibles, add them together and thats only 28,840. So wheres the remaining 1,850?

Please look at the information on www.transamworld.com before answering.
Some people say the rest are hardtops (but I don't think so).
    Thank You.

Well, there are a handful of hardtops out there. Less than 2,000 out of 30,000 sounds about right from what I've seen...

It's either accept that they're hardtops, or that the stats are wrong. No other options out there...

Is there any other web site I can look at to find the REAL story?

I'm not sure about F-Bodies or Firebirds specifically. I imagine somewill will know of some stats sites...

disclaimer at the top of the page:

Another source shows a total of 30,690 Firebirds built in 2002. It is suspected that 7360 units are missing from CompNine's database and therefore this breakdown.

also where are you getting your info? because TAW says that according to their source, (Compnine) there were 23,330 total Pontiac F-bodies in 2002.

their disclaimer goes on to say there might be 7,360 units missing. (a total of 30690) but they dont have the record for the missing cars...

but I dont see anywhere on that page 23,648 coupes or 5,192 convertibles for 2002...

now another page on TAW says:

A total of 30,690 Firebirds were built for worldwide distribution..

    ..

    5,192 were Convertible models

23,648 had CC1 Removable Roof Panels
I'm assuming thats where you got you numbers? they make it pretty obvious that the remaining 1,850 cars were hardtops.

    /confusion.

I thought they did not make any hardtops in 2002.
I might be wrong on that.

I appreciate all the research your doing on this and if I find out any more information on this I will post it here.

I don't mean to beat this to death but I just would like to know. Even on ebay or autotrader I don't see any hardtops. All I see are convertables or t-tops.

Got the VIN to come up, it is 2G2FS22K822168988. It is a 2002 Firebird Coupe. Fairly basic load of options.

As to the debate about hardtop or not for 2002, there are definitely 2002 Firebird and Formula hardtops but I have yet to see a Trans Am hardtop. I also thought I had read that the TAs were mandatory T Tops. Someone will no doubt prove me wrong.
