02' steering column

The area around my tilt seems very loose. If I grab the wheel I can move it side to side a bit. What is required to fix it?

Sounds like a very worn bushing.

I remember in the older models there were some plastic pieces to be replaced and tightened up.

Unfortunately, GM columns have been known to loosen up over the years. Our '85 Monte Carlo SS was terrible when we bought the car a few years ago. You actually had to hold the steering wheel up to engage the ignition. Not sure if the F-body columns have the same issue, but on the earlier column it was a set of torx head bolts about midway down in the column. Had to take the whole upper section apart and even then you could only access 3 of the 4 bolts. I can check my books if no one else posts up a reply.
