Pewter Metallic- 2002 Firebird Formula
%$#@! garbage truck...
I'm sitting in traffic last night at a red light and there's a garbage truck behind me. We probably sat there for a good 5 minutes when suddenly "thump-CRRACKK." The MORON had fallen asleep or something and his truck rolled forward into my Formula. Instantly pissed, I got out and said "what happened?" He shrugged sleepily and said "I dunno." F$#*ing idiot.
It was dark, rainy and windy as hell, but I couldn't find any damage anywhere. His bumper was higher than mine so it hit right across the brakelights, but none of them were shattered. I felt around for a couple minutes and couldn't find any damage. No loose pieces, everything was snug and intact. So I counted my blessings and went home.
After I got home, I discovered a big crack in the name plate between the brake lights. This piece. (Pic is not of my car, but you get the idea.) The reason I didn't see or feel the crack is because the plastic popped back into place and the crack is nearly seamless. Still, it's broken and will only get worse. Wish I could have seen it, but like I said, it was dark and raining. I should be glad that's all that was broken, too.
Can I get a new one at any Pontiac dealership or would I do better with a place like JC Whitney?Last edited by Pewter02Formula; 01-30-2008 at 09:46 AM.

Pewter Metallic- 2002 Firebird Formula
I thought about ebay, but I want to get a new or like-new part. The red lettering on mine hasn't started to fade yet and it's been scratch-free up until now.

Pewter Metallic- 2002 Firebird Formula
Someone here on the forum was selling them in a set several months ago -- that's when I got mine. Then I bought a house and packed them up in a box, so I'll have to find them in the spring. :P I do recall they were limited quantity... not sure if anyone is still selling them these days. Do a forum search for "last of the breed badge" and see if anything comes up!

I emailed GMPartsDirect after I found the part on their site. They had different types (Firebird, Formula, Trans-Am) but none of those were in stock. The only ones they have are called "W/ Formula" and "W/o Formula." So I wrote them to get a better idea of what kind of wording is on them.
If I ever see that garbage truck again... *BOOM*

Thanks for the links, fellas. If GMPD doesn't have what I'm looking for, the link DOCJHH45 posted is great.

Contact me if you want a reworked unit that has been polished to a nice clean lustre.
$45 plus shipping.
I've got two left right now.
See feedback on LS1Tech.com under the same user-profile name for positive feedback on these things. I've literally done hundreds of them over the last couple years.
If you really must have the decal, you can buy replacements on Ebay cheap.
I prefer the clean polished look myself!
