pacesetter cheap and still do the job cost me 250 for install of headers and 100 for the install of the ls6 but it's diff. from shop to shop i would say to do a full exhaust for now and skip the intake until later

I'd say give it to me but if you don't wanna do that ... lol ... I'd do the Long tubes first.

What do you want for the $1000? Engine performance? Suspension?
If you looking for a few exra hp, I would go with Pacesetter LT's, ORY, Magnaflo cat back and Lid. That should eat up all if not more of your budget.

headers and a lid I would agree on the pacesetter's and go with the y pipe with high flow cats (i personally would doesn't seem to be problematic)

Buy HPTuners for your laptop, that's around $515 last time I checked, an electric cutout for the end of the y-pipe $275 ($325 installed) which brings your total to $790 and with that extra $210 you could go with a K&N FIPK or whisper lid.
Use the HPTuners to delete your MAF sensor (untested but I think it frees up a ridiculous amt of hp on my car) and do the free mods as you learn to tune; HPTuners will allow your car to grow as well as providing a 20 hp or so gain over stock - it is the single greatest purchase you could possibly make for your car. You can buy licensing rights to the entire year model (2000 f-body LS1) and if you meet someone else with the same year car, charge 'em $200 for a tune. It might just pay for itself over time. Mine never did, but that's just because I'm a pushover.

if you have an A4 get a stall... best bang for the buck in a A4... if you're m6... get headers, cat back, and a lid... if you got extra $$$ get a short throw shifter...

I appreciate everyones help, except this fella ^. I have many tools but have never fooled around with newer cars. I would love to do my own work and I will in the future, but right now I cant afford to buy the part, try to put it on my self and mess is up. Then have to buy another one and pay someone to put it in. So if you dont mind a little bit of respect would be greatly appreciated.
As for the rest of you, thank yall so much for all your help. I will check on the stall and the lid first. Next month the headers and true duels. October the tuner and maybe gears next.
Thanks yall
