Ls1, the ls1 was underrated from factory in f-bodys, its really a 350hp/360trq engine.

The ls1 also seems to pull better top end imo because the engine flows air better.

The LT4's are BA in my book. I think that it would come down to weight and driver of the car.

    C4 weight- 3280-3320lbs

    C5 weight- 3173-3246lbs

Not from the factory, I've seen one 3rd gen LT5 swap, I think for the 91 SEMA show if I remember right. Those engines are few and far between, they were hand built here in Tulsa at Mercury Marine, and the later version (93-95?) was a quad cam monster...405 rated hp I think...good luck finding one without tearing apart a rare and expensive C4 ZR1 Vette....

I'm saying even steven here. my buddy had a lt4 vette and sat right next to a ls1 at the track in 3 races and yes he does know how to drive. I also heard the lt4 was also under rated, possibly actually around 375. Just what I heard. My buddy ran 13.10 / 109 mph on a 95 degree chicago day. with only mufflers, not even a cat back.

Well I saw a stock C4 GS run a 12.8 or 9 back in '00, so I think it'd be a driver's race, and I'd probably give the edge to the LT4, esp. if it's in a C4, which IIRC is lighter than an F-Body.

I remember there was a few LT4 SS's running around in '97, I read about them in Super Chevy back when they were new. I think SLP made a few of them.

Id believe it, a 3250lbs car with 330hp would be possible of 12s

NO, IT'S NOT......, his car was a 96 collector 6 spd lt4, almost same car as the GS that was mentioned, claimed to be under rated also! Not arguing just saying , but then again we all have heard different stories.

Im not saying a lt4 vette with 330hp cant run a 13.10, they can!! But the lt4 is not as good as the ls1 IMO. They dyno 300whp bone stock, the same as some ls1 cars but less than the average 6 speed ls1.

All manual trans 1996 C4 Vettes are LT4's amd 100 LT4's were installed in Hardtop 30th Anni. SS's in 1997 again 6spd only.

Out of all the street runs I've done in my LS1 I never had the pleasure of running an LT4 car. But I agree on it being a Drivers race.

    I owned a 1996 C4 with the LT4. Excellent engine.

I was able to run very low 13's with the car bone stock. My guess is the LT4 C 4 would be faster in the 1/4 mile than an LS1 F-body. The best I've ever done with one of my 3 stock F-Bodys was 13.5.

I'd be willing to bet that the 97 F-Body with the LT4 would be a drivers race versus a LS1 car.

I wouldn't mind finding one of those lt4 firehawks. Loved the look of my 96 ws6 formy. I should have kept that one. my very first new car.
