    00 SS Vert.

Too fast at the 1/4 mile.

I took my 00 SS vert. to New England Dragway last night.
My best time was 13.310 sec.@ 105.22 mph.
They told me I was all done after that run. Rules say - verts. running 13.49 or quicker have to have a roll cage. Oh well, I was able to make 5 runs.

It's a stock auto., I just ran it in Drive and let the computer do the shifting at 6000 RPM.

Thanks, the cool night air helped a bit. My best run came at 9:15, with some tire spin that didn't happen in my previous runs.

I have an M6, and didn't know the computor would allow the trans to pull until 6 grand! I thought fuel cutoff came in at 5600RPM.

Is the LS6 intake your only mod? And are you still on the stock convertor?

Yes. The intake manifold is the only engine mod, and the converter is stock. I also did the free ram air mod, which may have helped a bit, with the cool air that night. It was about 56 degrees.

Maybe our PCM programs are diff. because of the year,or trans. and gears.

Ok sorry to keep asking...but which free air mod did you do and are you using a hand held programmer or did you have the car tuned...my car is bone stock except for a lid and CME exhaust.

They are kinda nazi's at that track, especially when it comes to verts. They gave me a real hard time when I went up there last August. I was the fastest car there that night with a shitty 11.83 They gave me a hard time from the second I took my car off the trailer. I believe that NHRA rules state that in a convertible vehicle 13.99's or faster, you need a cage. IHRA rules are a bit tougher though. But congrats on your times

Fuel cutoff, stock, I believe, is 6200. I have found this in my '98 and the '00.

The free ram air mod is when you cut an opening in the bottom of the air cleaner, right above the radiator. So that the air being directed to the rad. is pushed up into the air filter.

The PCM has the stock program, no tune. It might be quicker if I got it tuned.
The only mods are posted in my signature.(well, except for the ram air mod.)

That makes sense, I knew it was at least 6000 rpm, but maybe higher.

I think it's a rev limiter. And I was bouncing off of it doing my burnouts too.

I know, but it's a convertable, and they don't want anyone getting killed.
Im' not gonna install one. I want to keep my SS convertable mostly original for future's sake.

    Thank you.
    Your car's damn quick.
The track is IHRA sanctioned and requires convertables running 13.49 and quicker to have a roll cage. I made a few runs in the 13.4 area, at 103 mph, with no problems. But when I went 13.310, at 105.22, they shut me down.
