    thinking of getting a vette..

so i finally got my camaro fixed and now it's a stock motor with just bolt ons.. and i moved up to NC and have a good job and i really want a c5z, ls3 vette, or the c6z. but my coworker is selling his 05 vette with 22k on it for 29k. should i hold out or is this a good deal?

    It's a decent deal if it's a Z06. If it's just a standard Corvette that's pretty high.

Personally I'de wait and get a LS3 vette, or the C5. C5's are nice and I like the looks better, if I was going C6 I'de get a LS3 motor.

This should give you an idea the criteria can be modified...

Just my $0.02,,,,but I'd wait and go C6Z. Especially if you like to have your cheeks touch your earlobes during acceleration. LOL...well maybe that's exaggerating a little.

In 05 there were no Z06's. 06 and up Z06's are still bringing $40's and $50's. I do agree though, for $29k you can get a newer base model C6 with around the same mileage. Verts and LS3 Vettes are going to bring more cash too, and keep in mind a majority of Vette drivers still have the presumption that they're cars are worth a fortune still.

and if it came down to it i would choose the c6z hands down but if it's between a c5z or an ls3 which one would be a better choice performance wise with modifications. i assume the ls3 but i'm looking for bang for the buck

For a Z06? Higher mileage I'm assuming. I have yet to see one around the area for that cheap.

I'd say a C5Z. You can get them cheaper than an LS3 Vette and as we all know, the aftermarket is HUGE for the LS6. Depends on what you want. If you have the cash, don't settle, find something YOU want to drive.

Shit, I misread that it was a C5. Not an '05. My bad.

id say wait for the c6Z. there are some reasons why. 1. the C5Z is a aged platform with a gen III 5.7. The gen 7 corvette is around the corner and expect the c6Z to drop even more into the high 20 to low 30s. Why settle for the c5Z ? or even the base model c6 ?

I'd have no problem settling for a C5 Z06 It's still a respectable performer regardless of age. I still see them for low $20's with about 40K miles on them. Very affordable for that kind of toy. I myself can't see spending another $10K plus to move up a model that has nearly the same amount of mileage. That's just me.

i work for a chevy dealer and ive driven all sorts of c6 vettes but only a few base line c5 vettes and i would say go with the c6 z06. me talking about that car doesnt serve it justice, you have to go out drop the clutch at 4 grand and see for self.
