Navy Blue Metallic- 2000 Camaro Z28 A4
thinking of buying a C5
Today I was at a Corvette meeting organised by the local Corvettes Owner Association in Luxembourg (more than 200 cars all over from Europe) and I gave a serious thought to trade my Camaro against a Corvette, perhaps a C5, if affordable...
What do you guys think? Would that be a good idea? I mean, what are the main differences, in ride and handling I mean?

If you find a nice c5 for a decent price i'd say go for it, but you would probably be better making the decision on your own, nobody can really tell you what to do on this matter IMO.

I had the same thoughts in my head a few months ago, dont do it, you will regret it. Save up some cash and then purchase it and have the best of both worlds...

Handling is better due to the independent rear suspension, and a little quicker. Though it is harder to attain any of our cars where you live. A c5 z06 would definatley be a car to get, anything less I could see myself regretting the trade. I'm greedy there only going to get cheaper buy both.

I would definitely go with the C5, it's a superior car in all aspects and taking that you live in Europe with some excess to the famous german autobahn (no speed limited) you will find the C5 advantages in top speed handling and stability! But either way you choose to go you still have a great car.

personnaly i would only get rid of my z for another z. not a base c5. the cars are too similar to get a base model vette. and for the price of the vette you can make the camaro handle better than the vette. that is just buying the vette money not mod money,

Anyway I would never trade my Z for any (any!) european car as I know the driving experience is in no way comparable to the Z, and I had the occasion to drive BMW or Audi and it will never stand up to an american built V8...even an Audi S4 V8 doesn't have that low end torque I love so much.
I think of upgreading my Z: new rims, new tires, Bilstein suspension. And driving on the german autobahn is fun, even if I haven't tried top speed yet...110 to 125 miles is ok with the Z, but I don't drive faster as my tires are quite old...
I'll buy new rims (American racer thorque II) and Pirelli tires...
It was just an idea when I saw all those Corvettes...but I'd go for an Z06 Corvette..
Thanks for the advice, guys...Last edited by Popeye1970; 05-02-2009 at 12:34 PM.
