Question Are these 2 computers underhood OBD 11 ?

I want to learn from knowledgeable fellow f body owners.
I look underhood standing in front of my 2001 z28 and i see what looks like 2 computers right in the left corner of the engine bay.
I am wondering if these are the main 2 computers engine management that run the car?
i,m wondering that they may be subject to water in that placement?
i thought computers were inside the cars?
Are these computers and are they subject to failure in the same way the 3rd gen cars were?

That's you PCM (powertrain control module), it's a single "computer", not 2. And they are responsible for the engine and many other controls. No water issues here (mine doesn't see much water though) and haven't heard too may people with issues with them like the 3rd gens.

Also, its OBD II (2), not the number 11

    Thumbs up

Cool i just always figured that most computers were inside the car cause it was basically cooler that made them last longer and figured that was why 3rd gen cars had more issues with computers , so i was suprised to see the computer still underhood like the 3rd gens, thats all
    thanx

On a couple of ocassions, members have had problems with pins corroding on the connectors. Usually, they end up chasing their tails on an issue and when all attempted repairs have failed, they then find that a pin has corroded through. Fortunately, it seems to be a very rare problem.

I believe there is a mod for relocating the PCM, however, I am not familiar with the details.

    Sadly now demodded :(

When I steam clean my engine I cover up the PCM with towels to avoid getting it too wet. That's the only time I've ever seen water getting that high up the engine compartment. Then again it doesn't rain that much here in PHX. I also avoid directly spraying the alternator.
