Temp gauage
I have a question for all. On my 02 Z, every since I bought her, I have noticed that the temp gauage never moves around. Once it gets to operating temp, it stays there, no matter what I am doing.
It gets to about 195 -200 and sits there. Is this normal or is there something wrong?

They're about as accurate as smelling your car's exhaust and telling the air/fuel ratio by it.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Correct, 98 was the last year for a real gauge. What we have is what I call an idiot gauge. As I heard it some customers were complaining about the gauge moving as the engine thermally cycled (up in temp - fans come on - down in temp). This led the designers to create a guage that, although it does move, is in reality a "it's cold", "it's at operating temp" & "OH SHIT! It's Gonna blow!" gauge.

yup, my 98 gauge moves with the fans turning on etc. my friends 2000 stays at 210 regardless of what is going on.
