Switcheroo: 2009 Camaro will actually be a 2010 model

While the Chevrolet Camaro program is clearly well on its way, General Motors has officially announced that the launch of the next-generation muscle car will be slightly delayed. While some reports had the 2009 Camaro entering production as early as late 2008, GM says the Camaro will actually be launched as a 2010 model in the spring of 2009, confirming what Leftlane sources have known for sometime.

According to Ward's, the slight change was made because GM didn't want a short model run of 2009 vehicles. Instead, the 2010 Camaro will hit dealer showrooms in the spring of 2009, with the convertible following later in 2009, also as a 2010 model.

GM expects to begin taking dealer orders later this year, but has yet to set a specific date. Both the coupe and convertible will be powered by a range of V6 and V8 engines, with the range-topping model rumored to have over 450 horsepower.

Once production of the Camaro finally does begin at the automaker's Oshawa, ON production facility, GM expects to sell about 100,000 Camaros annually.

I remember back in 2003 when rumors of a new camaro started to surface. then you start seeing all the pictures of the "2006" Camaro...
GM leaked too much out, and then ran into too many bumps along the way.

people are getting impatient, but the ars aren't even on production yet, and most dealerships aren't taking anymore names for their waiting lists. So these cars are in HUGE demand.

GM, i don't like you anymore. This camaro is your last chance with me....

agreed, meanwhile dodge has the new challenger ready to roll out and it looks almost identical to the concept, which is amazing. gm isn't even gonna have a camaro at the NY auto show this year
