Swap to a LS2 or stay with the LS1?

I somehow today found a wrecked Goat today. It wasn’t wrecked to bad at all the engine was in great condition. The engine had 35XXX miles on it. They were asking 10K for the whole car but they were willing to sale the engine and tranny for $5,200. So should I get the LS2? Is that a good price?

I agree. For that much $$$ you should be able to do H/C/I gears and full exhaust + tuning and have money left over for a tank full of gas and a burger.

I agree with the others...the only counter argument I can think of is if your LS1 has a ton of miles on it, then...maybe.

Not to mention that I got my brand new crate engine LS6, although no LS2, delivered for $2999.99! (with warrantee) Just my 2 cents. Minus the tranny of course. But brand new. Okay, now I'm just talking to myself..no you're not..yes you are...

    And LS6 > LS2 in stock form.

Also easier to drop into our cars.

I'm with 67camaro.... upgrade your LS1 with that kind of money. Even if it is high miled, you can pretty much completely redo your engine from the ground up for that kind of dough! Not to mention, completely desimate any LS2 out there in the process!

PLUS.... I'd like a burger too.

I'd only do it if your LS1 is broken or worn out.

thats funny my LS1 put out 335HP and 349TQ.. the LS2 guys jaw drop.. major with only an SLP intake and Mass stock exhust.. so is it worth it..? nope.. for only 15HP.. i wouldn't say so.. The LS2 that night were putting down 350/350 even.. It happen at a dyno night... haha member.. its only 5.7L compared to 6.0L.. The only reason I would go with an LS2 is for the bore.. thats it..

I'd say if you have the cash and want every last hp, sure, why not, but I wouldn't. Its a nice buy none the less, but unless yours is shot, its not worth it.
