Strange looking '99 "SS"....

Is this a real SS? I've never seen this hood before, it has the standard rear wing, and has what appears to be a early 90's C4 Corvette steering wheel.

I would say that is a poser SS. Thats not an LS1 SS spoiler and I thought at first it was the SLP ultra Z hood, but after closer inspection its not. I would be real interested to the see the RPO codes, I bet there is no WU8.

If it is they changed 90% of the stuff that makes it a SS. ( Hood, wing, wheels)

I don't hate the hood or wheels, but I like the original SS stuff better.After looking closer at the hood, it seems like it doesn't fit very well-check out how it lines up with the headlights. A gap on the drivers side, and it overhangs the passenger side a bit.

And I swear that's a C4 steering wheel, that would worry me too.

I'm not interested; I don't like red (no offense, just IMHO), I just thought it was interesting.

That is a looka like ultra-Z hood and the wheels are a wierd cross between Trans Am 17" wheels and C5 wheels. And yes its a Z28 not an SS. And No thats the factory steering wheel.

Steering wheels changes in 00 or 01 with the steering wheel controls. Looks like a Z28 to me with SS emblems and different hood. Wonder what the yellow markings are on the intake..also the FIPK kit is banged up and could have been hit in the front. Price is ok for a 60k car with the mods it has, but look it over if your interested in it and take off the SS emblems if it is not one. I can care less if people drive poser cars, but when it is obvious with the non SS spoiler it is even more obvious to others that have the z28 or SS.

What is the difference between that hood and the ultra Z hood?

While anything is possible, I feel pretty confident this is a clone. Only way to be certain would be to check the codes for the WU8 option.

My guess is that it is a customized or wrecked SS, based on the stock SS exhaust. I doubt that anyone would mod a Z28 with that setup.

Yeah, I figured out where the wheel came from. I was in a junkyard today and saw one. It's the airbag wheel from the '90-'92 Camaro.

Same as the Vette's though, I test drove '92 Vette a few weeks back that had that wheel, except it said "Corvette" on it. I actually like it better than the 4th gen wheel, but I have to question why it's there.

The exhaust is aftermarket, those are slash cut tips, not the SS rolled tips. Front fenders popped out at the bottom, fuse box cover gone. The different steering wheel would make me real suspicious of a wreck.

to many grey areas for me if i was looking for an ss or a z28 i would look else where just to many eyebrows to raise but thats just me happy hunting.

Just the fact that it's red is enough for me to pass on it.
