    steering wheel

Anybody switch steering wheels on their car. Mine is slowly falling apart, and I was considering changing to a nice grant leather wrapped gt series. I realize that I will lose the radio controls and the airbag, don't care.

I think I can use the adapter from a third gen since it is almost the same column. Not sure tough. Anybody else do something similiar?

Afterthoughtsauto.com, a sponsor here, has these that go over your steering wheel.

I dont like the lace on covers, I want to replace the entire wheel, I think it is too big and not very sporty, I also am always bumping the radio controls

I have a grant formula Gt in mine. Can't remember the Grant adapter needed, but it's the standard GM adapter, just look at the back of one of the wheel's boxes. The obvious is that you'll have to remove the airbag, either elect to pull the cam spring that it's connected to out, or just cut the airbag wire and leave it in; either way, if you need it down the road, it's a $15 GM part.

Not to say it was super easy, but not too bad, just be sure to deactivate the airbag system first!
