    So.........here's a question for everyone

Ok, so I've really been thinking about getting another F-body soon, and I used to own a 2000 Ws6, and I must say, damn I miss that car with a passion. But at the same time I'm wondering if I should just pick up something like an 00-02, or just wait for the new 5th gen Camaro. I've decided to go with the Camaro this time around. So my question is do I pick up an 00-02 Camaro or just sit and wait for the 5th gen Camaro? I recently found a 2002 Z28 with 1200mi for $20k. So they aren't up there in price. Let me know what you think.

I would wait a while longer before you decide that. There is still a lot up in the air with the 5th gens. The closer it gets to time for the 5th gens, more and more people will dump their 4th gens most likely anyways.

    Sadly now demodded :(

I agree. Although I intend to buy a 5th gen SS or Z28 vert for a daily driver, I have no intention of selling my 02 Z as I consider it a down right perfect execution of form and function.

As stated above, the flood gates will no doubt open and the price of 4th gens will drop like a stone when the 5th gen becomes readily available.

^^ Agree with above, and we all know that the prices will be inflated the first year. Also let them get the bugs out while you drive your 4th gen, and enjoy modding it. The other benefit is, that the aftermarker has a year to "catch-up" by the time you by your 5th gen.

    another thing to consider

    2 possibilities:

4th gen prices go down because they depreciate faster due to the release of the 5th gen camaro, or:

4th gen prices go up because the release of the 5th gen spikes a lot of interest in camaros in general...

    something to think about

i think the prices will stay the same, if you own a clean 4th gen with low miles, ex. y2k's car, the value will stay the same, due to online recognition and attention,

im gonna go with the prices will stay the same if not go up.

I might just go ahead and buy an a 4th gen Z28/SS and wait another year after the Camaro is out so that way GM will have all the flaws worked out. Although, I will eventually I will get the 5th gen, I just don't want to be the first guy to buy one and have some troubles with it. So I think I might just wait on that.

i also plan on buying a 5th gen but i'm gonna wait a couple years before i do so cause i plan on keeping my dd 4th gen and paying it off. when i get back from deployment i plan on modding the crap out of it so i can keep up with the new challenger and 5th gens on the street. i might sell my 66 impala and buy and restore a 1st gen but that all depends on if i can find one or not. i figure that when it comes out every big dollar bro is gonna have one and some might even be dumb enough to trade it in after a couple of years for some other new toy that comes out. and that will be when i get my hands on it.

Not sure if I want to go the cheaper route and get the Z28 or not. Although I think I'd rather have the SS. Just not sure yet. I've been seeing them with really low miles,(under 10k mi.) for around $20k. But I'd get a 99-02. Especially if its hugger orange. After reading what everyone has had to say so far regarding the 5th gen, I might just wait a good year or so after they are out and then get one. Meanwhile, I'll keep my eyes open for a nice 4th gen.

    Sadly now demodded :(

If your after a 4th gen LS1 car get an 01 or 02 as they already have an LS6 intake and they don't have EGR.

The only problem is, if you get a fourth gen, you will not want to sell it, even for a fifth gen. As reasonable as prices are for late model Camaros, its hard to justify the price of a brand new car.

Think about it this way, an 01 or 02 SS M6 is probably going to cost about a third as much as the new Z28's and SS's.

I love my 99Z. I'm probably going to drive this car for another few years until I can get secondhand fifth gen for a reasonable price. Thats probably going to be awhile.

I wouldn't sell the 4th gen if I got one. I'd keep it. And I would think that after they stopped production on the Camaro they (GM) would have learned something by now. I would assume that they will make the prices on the 5th gen Camaro pretty reasonable. Then again.....ya never know.

Personally I wouldn't buy the 5th Gen, well not the first model year anyway. I don't really like the body styling they've done to it. I would stick with a 4th gen but no way would I pay 20 racks for a z28 no matter what condition it is in.
