    shifter knob

    how do i get the stock sfter knob off? its the leather wrapped ball not hurst....

    unscrew it. its got lock tight on it so you have to give it a pretty hard twist

    If it's an auto, there is a slot in front of the knob base where it goes over the lever. Inside that slot is a "U" shaped clip. With a mini regular (flat head) screwdriver, or pick, pick out the "U" and the knob will pull strait off.. Slide the new knob on and push the clip back into the slot till it stops..

    i test drove an SS the other day...its a leather wrapped knob...and it spins freely...how would i get that off?

    I've got the same shifter in my car, hate it. Just keep spinning it counter clockwise and it'll come off. The best time to do it is when the inside of the car is really hot. The metal expands and doesn't allow the ball to freely spin.
