C5 is a better car than a 4th gen Camaro. C5s have gotten really cheap. Not much of a decision here.

Well of course the guy with a Corvette flag for his avatar feels that way

I throw a stone around here and I hit a Corvette. I enjoy having a flashy car that stands out in the midst of all these vettes, even if they are better (and I'm certainly not arguing that). I'd rather have the SS. There's only one other SS around here that I've seen.

I apparently live in a somewhat ritzy area though. It's vettes and porsches left and right here. Might not be like that where you live...

For the record, I own an SS and not a Vette. I know what is the better quality vehicle though.

I know, and I agreed with you. It was a simple little joke about your big Corvette icon, and not a disagreement of your statement. Just saying the 'better' car isn't always the better car to have.

SS = Faster and more of a eye catcher

Vette = Better handling, better braking, better interior, etc...

I'd keep my SS over a C5 any day unless it was a Z. Just my .02

I'd keep the SS the C5 is ok but I would hold out for a C6 model. Big step up. C5 is still a LS1 and don't really do it for me personally. The4 Z06 would be cool if it had a targa top

i just don't like the fact that there is only 2 seats.
although i saw a C6 with 4 college kids in it at a gas station once...suprised the hell outta me.
back on topic though +1 for the camaro here

lots of corvettes in my area as well. seeing them all the time definitely takes away from the awe factor. when i see one i hardly even notice anymore. definitely don't see many SS's in the area. with that being said. just about everyone kids dream is to have a vette at some point in their life. if you can buy one and can justify getting rid of the camaro then by all means get a vette. they are a better car but i wouldnt get rid of my SS for a c5.

i can sell my ws6 and for around 4k more buy a low mileage z06 and refuse.....the better car is the z06, however, the ws6 will get more looks and in the future be more valuable IMO.....however, now that there making camaro's again, id go with the vette

More of an eye catcher? Perhaps

    Faster? How do you figure?

A little off topic - why do you want to move up there? Lived in Wake County for a couple years. Emissions, "property tax" in addition to registration on your cars, state income taxes...none of that in Florida.

i think hes saying an SS is faster then just a regular c5 vette not a c5 z

The OP really hasn't said anything about a family, so I really doubt 4 seats is a factor for him at this point in his life.

I know what he's saying, but I bet there's a lot of C5 drivers that will disagree. At the high-end, or from a roll, definitely not. From a dig thru the 1/4, maybe, i.e. sometimes yes sometimes no.

i dunno they match up pretty evenly. i mean they are both LS1s. theres not too much difference between the two.

Except the vette is lighter and with better aero, camaro has live axel, easier for launch but vettes have always been good at launching when comparing IRS cars.

i dunno i think they match pretty evenly. the weight difference is 200 lbs and im not sure how much of a factor the aero dynamics are going to play but thats just my opinion. i feel pretty confident in my car when i pull up next to a c5 vette.
