removing the cats from my ls1 camaro SS

Hello everybody. I was wondering what would happpen to my LS1 if I removed the cats, and the egr system would I get considerable gains in horsepower and performance? is there a way to override the cats without taking them off?

I have an 02 ss and i cut the cats off completely. I put a flowmaster in the back with 3" tubing all the way back in a Y pipe. I felt the difference immediately. The sound is great too, get compliments every day! check engine light will be on, but an oxygen sensor eliminator on the bottom 2 o2 sensors will stop the light from coming on.

    cats off my LS1

It does have a great sound.

Where can I get those sensor eliminators?

Did your car run rough after you cut the cats off? Mine did so I reset the PCM. It ran good for a little while then started running badly again. It started miss firing,& lost power. the same day i ran out of gas about 2blocks from my house
I barely got home when the thing finally quit. It backfired ran rough and finally quit running right in front of my house. Since then it hasn't been running right. I thought maybe it from removing those cats.
HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THAT SAME PROBLEM??

    Sadly now demodded :(

I haven't had a problem. I deleted the cats when I went to LT's and a ORY. I also had a friend tune out the ses light for the missing front (or was it back, I forget) O2 sensors and the deleted AIR.

Also, what your asking about are O2 simulators (not sensors).

BTW: I NEVER run less than 1/8 tank before I fill up as the pump will run dry and cavitate. This can be problematic.

When i cut my cats off the car ran fine and is still running fine, it still has that cutout, backfiring sound but mine is from the flowmaster, typical flowmaster sound. I have a buddy with another SS and he has straight headers into three inch and nothing else, loud as hell and runs fine.

Sweet SS has been off the site since 2009. Are you having a similar issue?
