Look for the rpo code, But from the looks of it a SS. Although if it isnt and carmax is selling it as one, then big liability so i would imagine its a true SS.

Like already stated above take a trip on down to the car and tell either the guy selling it or the dealer that you want to look it over. Then right away open the drivers door and look for the RPO sticker. When you find that then check all the codes on it, looking specifically for the code WU8. If it has WU8 on it then yes, it is a real SS.

my 98 SS had single exit exhaust, so sometimes the exhaust can be misleading, even though the single exit exhaust was only a base option for 98 ss's and ws6's
