    Question about a cam?

My friend wants to sell me a stock z06 cam for $150.00 it's got 15,000 miles on it. Do you think it's a good deal. Also will I have to retune.

What year Z06 is it from? The '01 Z06 cam wouldnt be worth it. I had an '02 Z06 cam and it gained 16RWHP without tuning. You can run it without tuning, but you won't see optimal gains until its tuned. You would have to upgrade your springs as well.

The Z06 cam shines WAYY up on the dyno sheet. Like above 4000 RPMs, which in turn shows a nice PEAK hp #. The $150 price is a good price, problem is, if I were you I would spend a couple hundred more and get a cam that will kick in around 2800-3000 RPMs and pull HARD all the way across the powerband. Peak hp is nice and all, but under the curve power is where it is at. If you are going to spend to do a cam swap, I'd do it right the first time. Good luck.
