Use synthetic.
Amsoil is a site sponsor and has great products.
I use Pennzoil Platinum Plus synthetic.
Whatever you do, don't use Royal Purple!!

just look in the owners manual and it will tell you what type of oil the motor calls for but i BELIEVE it was synthetic from the factory

I don't believe the F-bodies came with a synthetic factory fill. The LS1 Corvettes did, maybe even the LT1 'vettes did, but pretty sure never the F-body. Not sayin' someone couldn't put a 'vette oil cap on our engine, tho.
BTW, did you know the Corvette used our engine, not the other way around!

If this thread starts getting anywhere near a "which oil is better" pissing contest, it will be closed in a heart beat. Just a word of warning ahead of time... since I've seen how sour these can turn FAST...
According to GM's service site, OEM oil for the Fbody with the LS1 was just standard 5w30.Last edited by konigandy6; 12-23-2009 at 07:17 PM. Reason: opened thread
