painted headlights?

i was looking through some halo headlight info and ran across a guy that painted his headlights behind the lens. i don't remember what thread that was in though. if anyone has any idea what i'm talkin about and knows how to do it please let me know. it was on an orange car and looked really good.

A portion of the headlight is painted black instead of the original chrome OEM. It doesnt do anything except look cool as hell.
