Noise in the Rearend

I have a 2000 SS A4 that Just purchased. Clean SS, like brand new (49,000miles). The question I have if anyone knows, when I'm driving and I let up on the gas I hear rearend noise.. The car drives great, shifts great, I just can't see that rearend is going out on it with only 49k on it... And I bought it from a old one owner guy that I figured he babied the car. Unless his son got a hold of the car...

my 01 z28 has made rearend chatter since it was brand new and now it has a 100,xxx miles on it.

some rearend noise is normal....

if you let off and hit the gas you will hear backlash from the gears, normal, are you sur it is rear end noise, mine was a loose spare tire clunking, easy fix

i have a trans am and my neighbor has 2000 ss and i asked him about a noise i was having in the rear and he had the same and said sumtimes the bolts come loose and he tightened some things for me and never heard it again. I'll ask him what he tightened if you want me to.
