New guy here. Just bought a 1999 Z28 convertible

    Hello all.

I just bought a triple black 1999 Z28 convertible with 6 speed, I'll pick it up tomorrow.
The car is in very nice condition needing a few odds and ends.

I've been lurking here for a few days before I bought the car and I figured it's time to register and start asking stupid questions

I'm a LONG time musclecar owner, restorer, and racer and have owned waaay too many performance cars to mention. (Yea I'm an OLD old guy who was around when the musclecars were sold new) My old musclecar of choice are Mopars but I've also owned some cool old Fords and GM's, I just sold an original 1969 L71 427/435hp tripower Corvette Stingray coupe with tank sticker.

I bought my wife a 1995 6 speed Z28 to drive back in the late 90's and it was a blast to drive, we sold it when our second child was born and I've always wanted another 6 speed F body... I'm really looking forward to driving this LS1 powered convertible and have a few mods planned...

Here's some pics of my overstuffed garage, I just made a space for the new Z28 and some of my toys.
I'll get a pic of the Camaro when I get it home.

    Thanks for all the replys.

Unfortunately bad news about the car.
We drove (1 1/2 hours) over to inspect the car and pick it up.
Well let's just say the pictures of the car surely didn't show the car's true condition
Major dents(body damage) in both quarter panels, terribly cracked front bumper cover, terrible crash repair and paint on the driver's fender(looked like a Maaco job), both fenders waaay out of alignment with major gaps between fenders and doors.
Engine compartment looked like it had a fire at one time.
Interior looked and smelled like garbage.
Every time I walked around the car I found more MAJOR flaws.
I can live with a few items to repair but this car was trash.
The seller was actually shocked when I told him to keep his junker.

Well my F body search continues.

IIRC, the Plum Crazy car in the foreground is a Dodge Challenger. Don't know about the one in the back.

To the OP: Don't forget that these are modern day musclecars. Just like "back in the day", some of them have been rode hard and were put away wet. I know this as "back in the day" I drove a few of them into the ground myself.

Both plum crazy purple cars are original 1971 R/T Challengers.
One is mine, the other is my wife's.
Both cars have 440 six pack engines, my wife's is an automatic car, mine is a 4 speed.
The other car is a 1973 Challenger, I bought it when I was 15 years old, it was my very first car.
It is also currently has a VERY close to stock 440 six pack engine that's running in the 11's but I have a 500 inch stroked big block ready to install.

The Mustang is 36k original 1989 GT convertible 5 speed.
The car is mint and is about as close to brand new a street driven car could be.
I was around back in the mid to late 80's and the 5.0 Mustangs were the car to beat. GM finally had to drop a 5.7 engine in their late 80's F body cars to compete with the tough little 302 engine.
I have to give Ford credit for being the first to offer a roller cam engine with MAF and actually put factory headers on their cars with true dual exhaust.

I also have a few low mile all original 1950's era Ford Coupes hiding around.

I agree after looking around I've found many of the LT1 and LS1 Camaros and Firebirds have been driven very hard and are in very abused condition, I just wish some of the sellers would be a little more honest before wasting potential buyers time and gas money.
I have a line on a couple of local SS Camaros and a Firehawk.
I'm not in a real big hurry so I am going to take my time finding a nice car.
    Sorry no camaro pics yet.

    Thanks all.

Welcome to the site. Sorry about the liar with the POS. I hate to hear you got rid of that 67 Vette, that might have been a car I would have tried to work a deal on.

    Hello,

    The Corvette was a 1969 L71 4 speed coupe (C3).
L71 engine option which was 427/435hp (solid lifter cam) with tri power carb setup with correct transister iginition.
1969 was the last year for the 427 big block tri power engine, 454 big blocks after that with no more tri power induction.
The car had been stored since the early 80's.
It had 30k original miles on it.
Lots of documentation including original tank sheet.
The car had original over the counter GM L88 fender flares installed on it back in the early 70's with huge Ansen turbine wheels and bias ply tires. Car was a real animal to drive and was scary fast. The car was reported to have been worked on by a small little speed shop in Columbus Ohio owned by the one and only Jeg Coughlin who now owns Jegs's.
Car was very solid and original.
I sold it to a Corvette restorer in Florida for a pretty penny.
