looking at an SS... what to look for?

I'm planning on going to check out an SS for sale (maybe movin up from my v6 bird) it has 103K miles on the car but engine was replaced and I believe the trans as well. The new motor was purchased with 14K and now has 20K miles. What type of things should I look for when I go see it?

I just hope I'll be just as satisfied with the looks of it as I am with my bird

Look for the common stuff, any maint records, proof of the motor and tranny being replaced.
Check out all the body panels and get underneath and check for rust and any damage, pull up a carfax report.
Take a look at all the fluids to check the condtion. Pull the plugs and check them for any irregular condtions.
    Compression check if ya want.
post up any issues or questions you may have and some will answer them for ya and congrats on the upgrade if you decide to purchase.

If you have a friend who is a mechanic, or know someone who is very knowledgeable (not someone who pretends to know what they are talking about) take them with you to check the vehicle out. If not, see if the owner will agree to take it to a dealer or a garage and have a certified technician check it out for you. See if you can agree to split the cost with the owner for the checkout. I know at my dealer we only charge a discounted 1 hour labor rate to do something like that. If he sees you are a serious buyer, I'm sure it won't be a problem...unless he is hiding something!

Good luck with everything, I hope everything goes well and you can have yourself a new set of wheels!
