torque arm mounts to the tail shaft as you saw, it takes a lot of strength to keep that rear end from jumping around. That is why they sell body mounted torque arms and long torque arms w/ relocated attachments.

So were you doing runs from a dig?

FKKIN WOW!!! The last time I saw scheisse like that was years ago when my friend and I were headed to a hobby shop in his mother's Dodge Shadow convertible. He was doing 80 on the highway and shifted the auto from D to 2nd then back to D...but he missed D...and N...and went into R. Punched a 6 inch hole through the bellhousing and the car bled on the shoulder. Pissed ATF for about a quarter mile. He called his father who called a hook...and his father and myself both laughed at him.

WoW I am suprised about getting into R in auto once driving. Heck here I go TV bench racing even Mythbusters tried this with several cars. They were never able to shift into reverse. Maybe his neutral lockout was bad??? I know all auto's come with it. Not doubting just suprised.

not at all.. we were coming from napa so we took the ramp going towards santa rosa/mare island and i punched it.. it was on drive the whole time i let the auto do its own work.. before we hit the last exit before the mare island bridge boom tons of smokecame out from the bottom and i knew it was tranny cuz i smelled it.. i put it on neutral and coasted the exit to the shoulder. and leak leak leak leak leak for 2 days... shit when i was tearing it apart it leaked all over my shirt and sweats. lol

i was scared as shit though man i was lucky fluids didnt hit my tires till i was almost to stop.. i woulda spun out and hit something...

    Sadly now demodded :(

This is why I have an adjustable body mount T/A on my 02. Takes the stress off of the tailshaft and allows me to set pinion angle.

Do you still have a steel DS? Steel DS (stock ones) usually vibrates alot more in the higher speeds. This happened to me too when I had my auto. I was actually roll racing another T/A then boom. Broke the tail shaft housing. Replaced that and the DS itself w/ aluminum one and was done with it.
