    K&N filter

A buddy of mine says if you just install the K&N filter and leave the stock airbox on the car you basically get the same performance as if you put the lid on anyway. Is this true, if it is it would save alot of $$$.

Bullshit. A K&N wont do much, if anything for you. I personally think they suck.

I think that K&N are the best air filters out there next to Holly air filters. But putting a K&N on a stock air box will not equal the air flow of replacing the air lid. This mod is easy and won't hurn you wallet. It be the first thing that I would do.

k&n has a better airflow, great filters.
the aftermarked lids have a smoother, less restrictive shape than the stock lid. that has fins inside, causing a lot of turbulence in the airstream. my car really woke up when i replaced the lid.
    do both!!!

You WILL NOT get the same HP gains from adding a K&N filter as you would adding a lid.

I gained 4whp by REMOVING the air filter on my carbed 5.0. I doubt a K&N vs. Paper is worth jack. All I know is it lets in tens of times more dust.

Forget that set up, go with the K&N 57 Series FIPK. Best filter set up on the market for a Camaro.

Just get a lid and an AC Delco and be happy.
