Just another boring picture

So I cleaned it up, wasn't able to throw a coat of wax on it, still kind of waiting on getting my whole list together of the Zaino products I need to get started with, so I figured it wasn't worth it anyways. Here it is all cleaned up, took it in a hurry as I had to get goin' this evening to my mom's....

Maaaaaaan, I've used that Meguiar's "PlastX" stuff, it helped a tad but they're so far gone, I don't even know if it's worth buying anything else for 'em. Really thinking hard about getting some ebay lights, if I'm ever able to sell my wheels and get that rear I want

Try wetsanding them. If you start around 320 grit and work your way up to 2000 then polish they turn out pretty nice.

They can be saved -- start by wet sanding them with 1000 grit paper and then buffing. Just don't apply much pressure with the buffer as you do not want to heat the lens up very much. My nephew does this for a local salvage yard as a sideline business. Takes a dozen or so lights at a time and makes them clear again.

The car looks great btw.

yup 320 is a bit extreme but i had to with the shape my lights were in

Those headlights are not beyond saving. Wetsand them like mentioned.

As long as you work your way up from there to 1000 or 1500 for the final sanding it's probably ok. Never tried starting with that coarse of a grit though.

Interesting.... damn, I love how I just post up a picture and get some great informative advice!!! Those headlights have been bothering me ever since I got the car! I'll have to try the sanding on them this Saturday for sure!

Better start making my list...

it works good if your light are really bad, i made it up to 2000 with the sand paper before i buffed em out.

Quick question... Never been a body guy but I remember watching a show a few years back about wetsanding

I guess they said there were 2 options when doing this process...

1 - Take the water hose, turn it on and let it run as you're sanding the area with the sandpaper, turn it off when finished and buff

or

2 - Let the sandpaper soak overnight in a bucket of lukewarm water and sand any small given area with it, rinse with water, and then buff

Is this correct? Or is it a little more detailed/complicated than this? I'm really not too concerned if they don't turn out looking perfect, just a little curious

Just dip the paper in water as you go and keep the surface wet. No hose or pre-wetting is necessary.

just make sure your surface and paper are wet while sanding, dipping like said above works good.

try using tooth paste. It works pretty good. use it with a buffer or you can just use alot of elbow grease. Don't laugh it works....

The guys on the t.v show truck did the toothpaste thing and the results were pretty impressive.

Looks like someone jacked your car in the wrong spot too, but you can fix that.

Take a 2x4 and bang it back in. There is a metal plate below that area that has two screws protruding. Someone jacked it up there and you can bang on that and get that panel back in.

Might not be the best way to do it, but your panels will line up again. Up to you..

when my dad owned his shop, he would wetsand with dawn dish liquid and water in a bucket...hose off each section as it starts to dry. I think the soap was to help get any contaminants off the paint while sanding. either way, it always turned out lookin great.
