I made some Air Inlet openings
well I didn't want to cut holes on my metal to put in the SLP Ram Air kit, but I figured I could maybe get an extra horsepower or two if I allowed the air infront of the radiator get into the inlet, so I cut 6 holes in the plastic under the air filter so that some air from the gap infront of the radiator could flow through. I'm pretty sure it works, since there are little hairs stuck in the holes that where trying to get up into the inlet. what do you guys think about it?

you know, i was just thinking about doing the same. i have k&n, just got a lid. dynoed 312 at the wheels with an a4. i'd think that any less restriction in the airflow should definitely be a plus.

well I didn't feel a difference really, but I figure if it got my 1 horsepower it took 10 pounds off my car? haha, every little bit should add up.

i did the basically the same thing but instead of cutting holes, i took a grinder and gutted it completely leaving just enough lip for the filter. I threw the k&n in and also a bigger throttle body, did notice a difference but cant be to sure until the track opens

you need to do the mod to your MAF. itll make a difference along with what you did, i did kind of what you did, but a little different.

right over the radiator is that little black plastic flap, cut that lip because that resricts the air to.

I don't think I can mess with my MAF sensor since I live in CA :/

instead of cutting those holes you should have just cut the entire thing out. it's called the "free ram air mod" or fra. tons of people have done it, including me and it has no real negative effects (except maybe the filter getting dirtier faster).
