not enough to worry about it if your modding.

I don't plan on modding right away. The only thing i plan on getting is a nice set of zr1 replicas and a slp loadmouth exhaust until I get more loot.

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
I had a vert prior to my current ttop car. I always felt it was considerably slower than coupes. My vert had 3800 stall, LS6 cam, LS6 intake, long tubes and full exhaust, tuning and dynoed about 360 to the wheels. It had SFC, LCAs, Panhard bar as well. Once I got the cam, I could keep up with bolt on LS1s or handle them. I would not get a vert and expect to make it go real fast unless you plan to drop a lot of coin into it. Ask Ed what he thinks. I am not saying by any means you can't make a vert fast as hell. You can, but it takes more work and money. If you plan to take it to the track and go fast, you got to cage it and have more safety issues. I plan to get another vert someday, would like a M6/LSx vert combo, with a few minor mods but mostly a cruiser type car.

Wow that's because you have nothing muffling the exhaust since loud mouth is just straight pipe and there's no cats.
I prefer muffler and headers, w/offroad Y.
FYI, Oh i'd get the vert if you want one, cool. Drove a rental VW bug vert the other day, it was fun and didn't feel like I had to be any where real fast.Last edited by Blue Thunder 42; 06-10-2009 at 04:56 AM. Reason: added info

You won't. Anyone that thinks the verts are that much slower are full of themselves. It's either in their heads or their comparison was skewed in some way.
I've owned both verts and T-top cars for years and made many dragstrip passes with both, had them all on scales etc...currently own both of each model.
Our current 2000 SS T-top car weighs 3,550 lbs. Our current 2002 SS convertable only weighs 70 lbs. more at 3,620 lbs.
You are not going to see a 70 lbs. weight difference at the track,,,,period!! None of us are that good. With identical drivetrains it really just comes down to whether you want a top down cruiser or a roof structure around your head.
Our 97 Z28 convertable was lighter than all of them at 3,520 lbs. and it had a castiron LT1 and a steel hood.
With a weight difference so miniscule yet having the exact same drivetrain from 98-02 I ask where is the performance difference??? There isn't any.
When we had a day at the scales,,,and I kid you not,,,there were a couple of friends of mine that actually had T-top cars that were heavier than my 02 SS vert.
The weight are so close between the two body styles that any one minor modification can easily put them over the top. Like bigger wheels and tires, stereo equipment, etc....
Bottom line is,,,get what you like and be happy knowing it's just as fast as the next one.
