green- 94 z28
How much do LS1 engines run these days?
Well, I have a 94 z28 with a LT1. It has about 154k miles on it and going to be spending about 1-1.5k on mods in the next month or two. I love the car and working on a lot of fiberglass work for it so it's not just about the money.
Anyways, I know some day the engine will blow. I'd rather keep the car and just get a new engine in it, and was thinking about a LS1. That fits in a 94 z28 right? Anyways, how much do they run now with around 50k miles on it? Also, would the mods like the cold air intake fit on the LS1 that came off of the LT1? If they don't I'll probably stick with another LT1 so how much do they go for with 50k mies on it as well?

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
What everybody is failing to state is the the LS1 will not bolt to your existing tranny as the bolt pattern is different. As well the engine cradle will have to be swapped/modified to accept an LS1 engine. Can it be done? In short, yes. It all depends upon your skill level or how deep you wallet is.

Ls1 -intake, front accessories, starter etc. Basically the block, rotating assembly, Cam and valvetrain, and heads.

Short block=no heads, some dont even come with a cam
Long block= has heads,cam installed
As far as accessories -usually come with a oil pump, timing cover, sometimes a oil pan.
If you buy a short or long block from say texas speed or mti they dont come with intakes, alternators, throttle bodies or any acc. I have seen some GM long blocks that come with intakes, plugs, wires, coil packs, water pumps and most everything except alternators,ac compressors but I guess thats really a crate engine.Last edited by LETHALxLS1; 08-08-2007 at 11:22 AM.

if something happened to my motor i would never buy another stock one. this is the chance when everything is off to go big. even if a motor cost 3-4 g's some some more and have a 500 hp n/a and be set.IMO
