High RPM's? Idle air control opens?

    Hi everyone!
I have a 2000 LS1 in a 33 Ford street rod. And I cannot get it to idle!
It has a wiring harness and from Streeet and Performance. And NOW has a computer from them too.

For some reason the Idle Air Control Vavle opens?

OK! This is what I have done so far!
I have had 3 people look at it. 2 came to my shop with scan tools. Both did NOT get any codes that would tell them what was causing it. But we did find out that I didnt have a vacuum leak. Or anything worng with the enigine.

I can unplug the IACV and remove it. Pull it out by hand reinstall it. And the engine will idle as long as I leave it unpluged. As soon as I plug it back in the computer will open it.

We took it to a Chevy garage. And they pointed to a bad computer. Since the computer we were using (at that time) was a used on. And also found out that it was out of a 98 Firebird V6.

So we just spent $500.oo on a new one. From Street and Performance. That would be programed to our engine and transmission.

Just installed it! And it is still idling high!

So what do you guys think it could be????????????????

Hope someone on here can help me out!
    Thanks Shannon Anderson

Vacuum leak ? Thottle blade not adjusted closed enough ? Is there a hole drilled in the plate that is oversized ? Or it's the programming.

Well! I dont think its a vacuum leak.
I can get the engine up to running temp. Then remove the IACV. Pull it out by hand reinstall it. Leaving it unpluged from the harness. And the engine will idle LOW and very smooth. So if it had a vacuum leak. I dont think it would do that.
And that all goes for the throttle blade also. Nothing as been done to the throttle. Everything is STOCK parts.

The wiring harness, what year is it for. 98 has different pin outs than 99 and up. That could throw you for a loop...

NO the computer matchs the harness. When I orderd the new comp. We matched up the pin #'s. And it's all 98. I think that everything that has to do with the comp is 98. But the engine is a 2000.

You might want to get a programmer to look at it... Almost sounds like the IAC is reversed...

The computer just came from Street and Performance. And was programed there. I really thought that it would fix it. But something is telling the computer to open the IACV.

Do you have a tach hooked up, just wondering how high is it idling ? With my new monster cam install, mine is 1250 rpm... But only sounds like 900 rpm...

NO I dont have a tach. on it. But I can tell you its high anuff you would not want to drop it in gear! And When I had the scan tool on it. He siad it was around 2500. That was before I replaced the old IACV. And with the new one. It still is around 15 to 2000.
There is NO cam in this but the STOCK one.

    Yes I did!
They siad that it could be 2 things.
    1. It could be were we had to relocate the Mass Air Meter. We made a air box. And relocated it over the top of the throttle body. And it did not have a seal arnound it.
So I used some closed cell foam and repaired that. DID NOT help it!

2 They said it could be dirty fuel injectors. And I to have to tell everyone on here. That it did foul out the plugs. When I tried to start it the first time! I had to replace them all.
So I put 5 more galloons of fuel in it. And a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. But I really dont think thats going to fix it either.

This is what I did today.
I reinstalled the original IACV. And left it unpluged. The engine will not even idle because it is idle down so slow. But once you get it up to running temp. It will and when it does. It will idle at a VERY low RPM. Around 800 or slower.
The oil pressure is only around 10 lbs. And its not even charging. I can rev it up just a little and it will charge and the oil pressure comes up to 20 or 25. And it revs GREAT.
So I would NOT think is a dirty fuel injectors. It runs to good.

Man, you need a local tuner... I use HP Tuners, but I'm not an expert at it, I can tweak a tune in though... The oil presure could be a problem too. Cold, mine is around 60lb & up. Might just need the fuel curve turned down. Know anyone with a tuner ?
