My brother-in-law has been jonesing for an F-body ever since we purchased our Trans Am. We met at a local salvage yard yesterday to look over an '02 Z-28 and a '98 Z-28. We looked at the '02 first -- t-tops, stock under the hood, manual windows, 6 speed, 80,000 or so on the clock, and a nice hit in the rear:














Checking everything over, we noticed that the oil was not registering on the dipstick and asked the proprietor for a quart to dump in. We popped on the battery pack, it cranked a little slow and then fired off. All looked good topside, so I stuck my head underneath -- oil was running off the back side of the engine onto the ground. We shut it down fast and decided to pass at $3,600. We then looked at the '98 Vert:











Unfortunately, it had clearly been rode hard and put away wet one too many times. I'm not even sure of the price, but he also passed on it. The search continues...

I told him he cant buy it because it will be newer then mine

It was a clean car. We would have investigated further, but the proprietor told us about having it running and driving it to the spot it was parked in. Too much at risk.
