Found a few more Z's, any thoughts??

First off, a big thank you to everyone who's answered any of my near endless questions over the past few weeks. I really DO appreciate it.

I've spent hours scouring the internet classifieds over the weekend, and found a few possibilities.

Here they are:

'98 Z, A4, Black, T-Tops, 69k miles, "very clean, new tires" says the ad. $7,995.

(This is going to be a driver, is there any reason not to buy one this old? Any common, first year problems with the '98's?)

'01 SS, red, grey cloth, T's, M6, new tires, 28k miles, $14,995. (might be a bit beyond my price range, I haven't looked into the financing on this one yet)

'00 SS, black, tan leather, A4, T's, 67.5k miles, $11,500.

'00 SS, NBM, T's, leather -unknown mileage as of now- $12,988

'01 Z, 51k miles, leather, $11,995

Any of these stand out as good deals?

Nothing major to be concerned about with '98s, but they do have minor differences, different knock sensors, different coolant temp sensor, different heads, etc.

Nothing that is a reason to avoid buying a '98 though.

They all sound like ones to be interested in

2001 and 2002 models would already have an LS6 intake which would be a bonus.

The '98 looks pretty cheap is it in good shape.

I'd take a closer look at the '01 Z with 51k. To me that's not a bad price at all if the condition is excellent. I'd seriously jump on that

It's at a dealer. I don't know any other details other than mileage/price. I plan on calling them this afternoon.

I would go with the 01 ss or the 01 Z, mainly because they have less miles.

I've known of places around here that will let you take em for a weekend or maybe even a week. Bring your dad or even mom with you and see if you can get em to let you take it for a few days. Then i think you'll get a real good feel of the car.

Seems like most places that have the cars I'm looking for are a few hours away, so I'm not sure they'd be up for that. Sounds like a good idea though, as long as I can get the track numbers off the glass when I bring it back, lol.

As far as bringing mom or dad, well, I'm closer to 30 than I like to admit, so I should hope I'd be able to buy a car without my parents!

As far as the cars, the '00 NBM SS is gone, although the woman I talked to at the dealership was very helpful, and will email me if they get anymore in.

I called on another one, a silver '00 Z, but that was gone.

I didn't end up calling on the 51k mile '00 Z, by the time I was able to call they were closed. I'll do it tomorrow, and post the details.

See this is why it never hurts to show your age. haha anyways, a dealership I was thinking about buying a 98 ss was going to let me drive it 2 hrs to my parents house over the weekend to get it inspected by a mechanic i trusted. I'm only 22 and some punk kid so I think you should be able to do it.

I'll give it a try, I definitely like the idea of having some time to get to know the car, and I WOULD like to have the car checked out.

Found a different ad for this car. It's listed as blue exterior, charcoal interior, and it's an A4.

Great color combo, I'm definitely going to check this one out.

I might check out the '00 black SS if it's still around next weekend. The car is in NY, and I'm actually going to be in the same town it's listed in for the weekend. It looks very clean in the pics, if I could get it him down to 11 or even 10.5, would that be a deal?

I like the Z's just fine, but I really want an SS. I'd probably end up adding the SS stuff on it anyway.
