Found this on Craigslist...
...in Houston. Not an LS1, but pretty sweet all the same.

Anyone know how many of the green SS's were made? Were there any teal Camaro SS?

id buy it.....for the 96 SS there was only a single exhaust?
-

Yep, two pipes on the same side. Not well received, and Chevy corrected the exhaust for later model SS's.
This car seems to have some issues. Whats up with those gauges in front of the shifter? And in the rear photo, you can see white smoke coming out of the exhaust.
The outer appearance looks good, but I'm betting the price is so low (when coupled with the low mileage) because this car needs work and has possibly been modded and driven hard.

It's been cold all around the country in the past couple weeks, so who knows. Could have been moisture in the tailpipes too. I think you guys are looking way to hard into this. But I would have to agree about the gauges.... that was just a slop job. See the wires hanging out too? Outer appearance looks great though.

Im guessing its supercharged. The gauges in front of the shifter were for Boost and Fuel pressure, was that a FMU by the master cylinder?

18D Cock Diesel- 1999 Z28; 98 SS #2043 RIP
The engine looks kinda uncared for...but looks can be deceiving. I would drive it and see what it feels like. Also, is it me or does that SS hood seem like the hump is too big like on aftermarket ones (refer to second pic from top)? I don't remember my 98 SS hood hump being that large. It could just be the camera angle or something. I don't see a supercharger in the engine bay. They may have had one and then removed it before trading the car in. The presence of a supercharger would also indicate to me that the car was beat on pretty good. It was probably modded and rodded.
But LT1s are also notorious for overheating. The optispark is a POS too right by the waterpump. I would think twice, go with a SS bro. Also, think about it. this is a dealer, a $6K car after financing will cost you $10-12K. If you're gonna go with payments, you might as well get an LS1 SS. You would be happier with it.
If you do end up getting it, put a lower temp thermostat on it so that it doesn't overheat on ya.Last edited by Anthracis; 01-23-2009 at 08:15 AM.

Sorry for the 98 to 02 SS owners, but that is the sexiest 4th gen camaro they made.

Na i think that is a legit SS, if you look at other 96 SS's for that year the hood looks the same to me, doubt it was S/C'd, do you think the guy would have only S/C'd the car and not made it dual exhaust? Guy coulda changed it back to stock but who knows. Either way if you got the cash its still a great pickup IMO.

I think it is a good find. One thing that caught my eye was the ignition box in the front of the engine bay. It looks like a pine 2x4. I would say if you have the cash I would talk him down close to 5k and buy it. The dealer says it comes with a 3 month 3000 mile warranty

I love the look of the 96 - 97 SS, but I couldn't step down to an LT1 from an LS1 (no offense to anyone). It's the correct hood for those years, in 98 the scoop tapers towards the cowl. The smoke I'm pretty sure is moisture - you can see in the 2nd pic the condensation on the hood. My '01 would do the same. Not a perfect car, but it looks pretty good. I don't notice many green ones. Just thought I'd share. I would love to have one, though!

Silver & Black- 99 Camaro SS
Well that is a racing battery in the car, an Optima Yellow Top. As said already, FMS added, on the driver side tower strut bolts. That is a Crane Iginition Box with live Timing Retard, a Crane HI-6TR. That Fuel Gauge in the added cluster goes with the FMS.
Given the other components, I'd say the Boost Gauge accompanied a Turbo or SC. Not noted in the features so I'd say it could have been removed. But as the other items weren't removed, I'd say broken is a likely option!

2001 3.8 Black - sold- 2000 SS Black M6
Just saw this on that same website www.camarosource.ca
"Note: L36 was available for Sport Coupe/Convertibles in late 1995 production (used in 0.4% of 1995 production)"
So does that mean that since mine is a 95, with a 3.8, that I'm in that 0.4%?

Silver & Black- 99 Camaro SS
So are you saying that 0.4% of Camaros that year were missing 2 cylinders?
My cat only eats salmon once every 2 years. My cat shits twice a day. Now if I saved the cat's salmon shit....that terd would be like 1 of 2x2x365. That is 1 of 1460 if my math is correct. So is that a .06% special terd???
