flat "berger" panel?

i apologize if this is a repeat thread but i looked and couldn't find what i was lookin for.
i'm tryin to find the tail light panel that is smooth and doesn't have the camaro letter indents. i'm considering some retro ss badging but can't find the panel.

i'm thinkin i might just have to fill, sand, and paint it myself.

the panel is not available. You need to fill in the letters.

I did the same thing, bought a junkyard piece so I could keep my original and had it filled and painted.

that's exactly what i had planned on doing...just buy a cheap one and do that one the way i want it so i can keep the stock one just in case. i have very limited experience on body stuff so we'll see how it goes. yours turned out real good though! nice work!

Before I sold my SS Camaro (2001) I looked into doing the same mod, talked to my body shop guy and he was going to do it, but a little reluctant about how well the body filler (read Bondo) would hold up over the years.
It apparantly doesn't hold well to fiberglass, and with the vibration, and the usual wear and tear he thought it might start to crack.
It doesn't matter now I guess because I sold the car before I ever got around to doing it. It's a super clean look though! I was going to fill in the keyhole too.

When are you going to flip the SS around to make them correct?

No, they are upside down. The S is larger on the bottom.

oh ok, flip them upside down, when you said flip them around i thought you meant so the S was facing the opposite direction

The mod was done by a bodyshop and he milled out the "camaro" letters before filling the area to stop any possible shadowing of the letters showing. He also used a filler that is compatible with the material of the panel. As for my friends and the emblem?

I really need you guys to come to Michigan so we can measure the top and bottom together. This emblem is exact from every angle and is from NPD (National Parts Depot) off a 60's Camaro.

well mine hasn't been around hardly at all...i've lived out of state for the past 5 years but i'll be back in march. anyone know if there any fbody clubs in michigan that get together or anything?
