trans mount looked like mine did. Hope the poly mount works for you because it was a vibration nightmare for me. I had dry rotted motor mounts and the engine was twisting bad, thats probably what tore my trans mount in half.

i was thinking of installing a strap on the front of motor to the frame instead of installing the poly mounts to keep vibration at stock rate.
has anyone done this?

Yep, that's what I do. I don't care much for the poly mounts on anything really.
I do however run one on the tranny mount itself. Most should find the vibration much less if you remove the spacer plate that the mount comes with.
It raised the tail of the transmission up too high throwing off driveshaft angles on both of my 4th gens. I removed the spacer, and I also did something else to the thickness of the mount but memory escapes me.
After that my vibration problems went away.

My previous post was supposed to say: I installed poly engine mounts and they are great. I discovered after the motor mounts were in that the trans mount was tore completely in half. I bought the prothane trans mount and it had terrible vibrations when cruising and when you get on it I thought the damn trans was going to fall out. I ordered the factory one and all is good. BTW I drive this car 110 miles a day at 80-85mph and there is barely any vibration to it, maybe my tires need balanced??? Its not bad at all.

The reason I had found for those poly trans mounts causing vibrations is because they are simply too thick. The spacer it comes with makes it even worse.
I think I took 1/4 total from my poly bushing to get the trans to sit back to the factory height. Then my vibrations completely went away.

is it hurting performance being so high???

No, it was just causing vibration issues with mine. More than likely it threw the driveshaft angle for a loop.
I reinstalled a new rubber mount, took some measurements, then modified the poly mount to mimic where the rubber mount had the trans setting.
Vibrations went away after that.
If yours isn't vibrating I'd just leave it be.
