Exclamation Gotta Read This Article!!! Top Speed Reports All Camaro Ls1's Have 345h

Now im not agreeing with this article but here it is just found it!

Replacing the LT1 was GM’s all-new LS1, which had been introduced with the fifth-generation Corvette in 1997. It featured the same OHV design, but was cast in aluminum, reducing weight. While the engine had been "detuned" slightly with only single exhaust (which would split into two when it exited the underside of the car) the small number of changes between it and the Corvette version — as well as the real-world performance — make the 305hp rating that GM assigned it in the Z28 a rather conservative estimate. Dyno reports and performance figures support the notion that all LS1 cars, regardless of Chevrolet’s figures put out 345 hp.

The 2001 Z28 and SS models received the intake manifold from the LS6 (the engine used in the fifth-generation Corvette Z06.) Accordingly, the horsepower rating was increased to 310 for the Z28 and 325 for the SS, although both models remained underrated.

Its pretty well known that the factory HP ratings are underrated. I have seen bone stock 2002 LS1 dyno at 323 RWHP which equates to around 370 at the motor.

HP # are only bragging rights anyways, its not a true indicator of how fast a car really is.

a lot of cars are detuned these days. Think about it, it they weren't, they would be pretty hard to mod them for the better.

I think GM could've done better with the engine options for our cars. There were basically 2, the 3.8 v6 and the 5.7 ls1 v8. The 5.7 was in the vette, camaro, firebird, and I think some trucks.

To me, they made it pretty boring. They could've made it more interesting by having more engines.

I dunno, look at the 3rd gens. They had alot of engine options. A 2.5 4cyl, a 2.8 V6, at least 3 versions of the 305, and the L98 350. I'm a big fan of those cars, but I gotta say, all those engines sucked except for the L98. More choices isn't always better.

Only thing I think GM should have done different was to put more than a 15hp difference between the base cars and the WS6/SS's. I see why they didn't, adding another 15 or 20hp puts them too close to Corvette numbers. Would have been nice if they did though.

They need to bring back the 302, 350, 396, and all that crazy stuff. Its cool to have the gas savers but they need more of the big blocks and strong small blocks like the ls1.

Sticks put down a little more obviously but yea....290-320 like the others said. I've actually never seen a bone stock 320 pull but i'm sure it can happen depending on the options and the dyno.
