Dumb question about an SS hood and rain.
My Z28 has an SS hood on it and I am about to add either a Volant or a K&N cold air intake and had a thought. I realized that if I have to drive my car in the rain, it sure looks like my SS hood is going to feed rain water directly into my air intake.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a real problem or am I worried about nothing? I don't want to turn my ram-air into ram-water.
Should I cut a custom intake cover for the hood opening to put up when it rains? I was thinking cutting a small piece of sheet metal and finding a way to attach it to the grill in the intake.
I don't plan on driving my car in the rain if possible but it's bound to happen some day.

is it a knock off SS hood or an OEM one? I wouldn't worry about it either way but just curious

The hood should have something built into it to keep that from happening. Most ram air hoods do.

Ram air hood
The hood will not allow any water to go through to the filter. It ends before it reaches the air filter and any water going through will empty out before it gets to the filter.

I don't know for sure but I believe it is a knock off.
Good to know.
I appreciate it.
Good. I couldn't tell just by looking. I figured it was probably a non-issue or else there would be a lot of threads on it but I wasn't sure.

Just watch out for the asshole in the 4 X 4 that doesn't slow down for the puddle.... Hydra locked my motor last year because of one. 6" of water. First wave went over the hood thruogh the cowl, second went up through the cold air.

4x4s must accelerate through big puddles. Nothing wrong with that. Shiny sports cars should be home in the garage.
