i was thinkin bout going to my local drag strip thid thursday for test an tune, they let anybody run for 10 bucks or something but anyway i know the ls clutches are expensive cuz they come as a kit and i dont want to go out there and throw out my clutch not only i would be in a hole my dad would be very angry, cant let that happen. So i was wandering what what be the safest rpm to drop on at the tree?? thanks guys

You don't want to "drop" the clutch.

I assume you have a stock car with stock street tires and not drag radials?

Stock street tires try 2500RPM and "feather" out the clutch on take-off.

DO NOT just dump the clutch. You will either a) spin depending on the RPM or b) your car will just bog down because you don't have enough ass in it at a lower RPM.

Very true. I dropped the clutch at 3500 and still bogged. feathering is the way to go

+3. You definately do not want to drop the clutch. As stated, feather it out. You may need to experiment with the rpms and practice some to get the right launch rpms. It will come with time and practice. Dropping the clutch will more than likely cause problems - don't forget the 10 bolt rear ends in our cars our weak. You really don't want to break that from dropping the clutch. Have fun at the track and let us know how you do.
