Challenger vs Z28
a friend, a co-worker got this Challenger a few months ago.
6.1L with a 6-speed
3am last night we left work, and got to goofing around on the interstate
I passed the yellow banna at 125mph - C-YA
made me a bit nervous, decided to cruise at 90mph. . .Cars are HEAVY, if I'd been on the green bike I'd have felt WAY more comfortable at triple digits
so at 90 mph I notice the Challenger gaining on me. . .The road was uphill,
a slight grade UP, I mashed the gas - stomped it to the floor, but the automatic trans didn't downshift and the Challenger blasted me. aaarrrggghhhh
ok, 6-speed is a must have
the OLD Z28 gave that $44,000.00 a good run

LOL. . . . .thanks!
seriously the old Z28 represented well, until the Challenger figured out which gear to flog me with . . LOL . . .
If I'd been on the green bike he wouldn't have even attempted to go around. . .

You should have dropped it down to 3rd real quick then back up to 4th...You would have smoked that challenger.(150+)

No need for a 6spd just a good.stall convertor. I have raced 6 spd Camaro's, TA's and 5 spd mustang from a roll and a light and with my tune I have no problem keeping up till 125 or so with the stall it'll keep 4th from being such a loss and resetting my car to shift at 6k helped. I plan on a nice 3200 stall going in soon as it gets to my friends shop. Helps us A4 guys out against 6spds.

Was a beautiful 6.1 6 speed challenger at the strip on test and tune day a few months back. He was struggling with low 14's for some reason. I know they go a bit quicker than that. Good lookin' car though.

my buds SRT 8 (auto) vs me (M6) from a roll and won barely.. last leg of the drag was up a hill even..
EDIT:"and I won barely".. sorry was vague
other cars on the kill list include
*new BMW 335i and 335xi (i think that's what they're called, the twin turbo ones) very close race every time tho... barely a carlength at absolute best
*newer GTO (a couple car lengths.. must have been an LS1 one)
then other cars not worth mentioning..
its truly amazing how great LS1 cars are...Last edited by mammoth713; 10-16-2010 at 07:02 AM.

Black- 2002 SS Camaro
It seems like all the Challenger drivers at my local track can't get out of the 14's either

Don't know when I might have the opportunity to apply your advice but thanks!
So here's some more pictures of that Challenger
His wife told him that if he quit smoking that he could get a new sportier car
he has smoked for 30 years, he's in his mid 50's
so after setting outside at work smoking away a car payment every month, and seeing the non-smokers toys
he shows up at work with the brand new Challenger, only after quitting one month previously
he'd been driving old worn out Ford escorts
now he is a car cleaning nut,
he sits in it during lunch break, sometimes he will drive it during our half hour lunch break.
Always talking about how he babies the car, I was very suprised to see him running it that way
Notice the CTS-V in the background?
here's another friends / co-workers Challenger, that he has had since the mid 1980's, it's a 383, 4 speed

Very cool. Nice to see co-workers and friends all getting along with different tastes in cars.

Long as it is still American muscle their is no issue to me. I like the look and comfort of the new Challenger. Defiantly a nice cruising car and good.on a long trip. Not a new SS fan I prefer the 4th gen. If I had to go newer it would have to be a low mile C6, Mustang 5.0, or a Challenger in that order. Really like a C6 especially since a.nice used one is cheaper than a new loaded SS, at least in the Houston area. Our cruises have fbodys, Vettes, a 5th gen Camaro or 2, G8's, GTO's some GT500's and a couple modded normal GT's and usually a SRT 8 or 2. All good American cars.
