Pretty much any catback is only going to get you 5-10 h.p. If you plan on LT's and an ORY down the road, the LM2 may be a bit raspy. I personally like the Magnaflow sound and went with that on our car. For those times when I want some "extra noise", I added an electric cutout.

magnaflow added 13 hp for me, borla is ok my step brothers 98 camaro sounded nice but only added 8hp, oh and +1 on taking the MAF off and put the stock one back on.
(hp based on avg. of 2 hp calculations)
if you want more power later on longtubes and a y pipe adds around 15-30 rwhp! hp. if ya want to attract cops, or want to scare every ricer who want to race you add a electric cutout between y-pipe and I or mid pipe. kinda have to turn the sound up on the vid. Have you logged your air-fuel ratio throughout the operating range? Chances are you'll find lean spots that can be traced back to the MAF.

They probably have different part numbers and reporting characteristics. Not 100% on this though. I looked through an old MAF thread I posted last year, but it did not list the part numbers. The GM replacement MAF for our cars is now an 85mm unit with a plastic housing that is calibrated to report like a stock MAF.
